The goal: to plan an earthquake alert.
The Israeli public is aware of a warning about falling missiles and is educated on how to act in such a case, depending on the distance from the falling site.
Earthquakes in Israel happen from time to time and the assumption is that a significant and severe earthquake is only a matter of time. Too little attention has been paid to instilling life-saving behavior adapted to earthquakes.
At the beginning of the process, we set ourselves some guidelines
• A different alert must be created for a different threat.
• In stressful situations, it is important that people react correctly and adapted to the situation.
• Due to the proximity of the population concentrations in Israel to the Syrian-African rift, there are only a few seconds between the detection of the earthquake by the sensing devices at the earthquake source and its arrival at the coastline. The alert should be available anywhere and anytime.
• In most cases there are secondary noises.
• Populations with special needs must be considered.
nowadays most of the public carries a mobile device almost everywhere.
It is quite obvious that in planning the alert we focused on the mobile device.
When the noise is detected by the monitoring devices, an alert will be activated on the mobile devices.
That will activate 2 indicators:
• Sound indication - a loud and disturbing sound
• Visual indication - activation of flickering graphics on the screen + activation of the back lantern.
This double indication makes the alert accessible for those with visual or hearing disabilities.
According to the identified geographic location of the mobile device, an "action code" will appear on the device's screen.
For those who have 20 seconds or more, the recommended action options will be displayed on the screen. Everyone will act in accordance with his judgment, and according to the options available to him.
Those who have only a few seconds to take cover – will get on the screen one word - "Go". This will prompt an action that will be based on instincts and practice ("fear-flight" instinct).
