This project is part of the "Light at Doors and Gates" course during my exchange semester at UNBZ University, Bolzano, Italy
With the guidance of the professors Hackl Klaus, Ignacio Merino & Festi Giacomo
- Special thanks to Hans Simonini from PLANIT for the materials and bringing my vision to life-
NUR is a lamp designed to be part of a bigger experience. In this project, I produced a feeling of excitement and a build-up of emotions that starts at the entrance of the buildings and continues inside. The location of the lamp is in the entrance of a building where people go to get an experience different from their everyday, hotels, theaters, ext.
DESIGN PROCESS
In this project, I produced a feeling of excitement and a build-up of emotions that starts at the entrance of the buildings and continues inside.
I got curious about sculpturing light and manipulating it. I treated the light as one of the materials in my objects, and frankly- the main material.
The design of the lamp- came from the design of the light.
From the very beginning, I explored different methods to manipulate light.
I did it mostly with materials I found like metals with different finishes, fabrics, paper,  Perspex etc.
From there I continued to the lamp design phase.
When designing the lamp, I aimed it to be placed in luxurious places- hotels, theatres, halls- where people come to experience some things out of their ordinary life routine.
To achieve the luxury appearance, the choice of material was very significant and crucial.

I wanted to create a "wow" effect.

On the other hand, the production process should be taken into consideration. The production should be efficient and easy.

Assembly Process
My goal was to create a unique entrance light, for special buildings like public or cultural buildings. I looked for inspiration in the lighting of places and objects, that make me feel the experience that I wish to achieve in my work.
During the design, I found myself drawn to the Art Deco style and its goals. The special architecture of this period, new materials and approaches brought designers to create rich-looking objects that impressed the viewer.
