TEAM WORK with Ayelet Shasha-Evron & Arnon Rosenzweig
The application was developed and designed as part of the UXUI course at Bezalel Academy.
In this project, we were asked to choose an organization we know and try to help one or more of their needs. As a former "ShinShin" (one-year volunteering before army service) at IGY, I've reached out to the organization.
IGY The Proud Youth Organization has been operating since 2002. IGY is a socio-educational organization working for youth and young people (12-23) LGBT in the formulation of sexual and / or gender identity.
(From IGY's website)
We started our process by writing down my memories and experiences in the organization. After that, we started interviewing key members at IGY.
The first brain-storming ended up with two main subjects we were interested to explore:
1) Unique groups in the organization, such as religious Jews, Muslims, and Ethiopians.
2) Documentation and monitoring of unusual cases in group meetings.
Before starting interviews, we mapped IGY's group's structure, and how activities summery is carried out:
INTERVIEWS
Our first interview was with Yoav Keren, Head of Digital at IGY
The next interview was with Yoni Avitan, Director of national youth activities
Our meeting with Yoni concluded that the teens that come to IGY sometimes deal with difficult things at home, being gay at school, at home, and like every other teen they have their dramas. Sometimes the instructors need to monitor special events and difficult cases. Nowadays it's done in an old-fashioned and a bit messy way.
We mapped some needs we thought we should point out in our app and our first flow.
We wanted to understand a bit more about LGBTQ teen organizations, so we reached out to Dori who's a former instructor in the "Open House" in Jerusalem.
We've learned that both organizations work somewhat the same and have the same difficulty points

DEFINE
The main need: documentation and monitoring of unusual events
Features we want the app to have:
- A sense of security in the application
- A simple and accessible update for instructors
- Documented reports
- Cross-referencing information about clubs & groups members
- Follow up on case treatment status
- Monitoring of unusual cases

FINAL APP
The final app has all the things we desired.
- secured entrance. Each instructor can enter only his group's page and see ONLY what's relevant to him
- feed page to keep up with important events that happened, and group members that potentially need our attention.
- simple, 3-step, way to document the last activity.
- members list that sync between the groups and clubs.
- history of activities.
step 1: Entering all attending group members
step 2: Summary of events in "notes" form. Each event gets severity leveled, keywords tags, and group member tags- to keep up on each member chain               of events.
step 3: instructors summary. Date, who was in the activity, and how was it for them?
